The University of Scranton Workforce Development Building (Weiss Hall) is a 9,000-square-foot, three-story academic facility in Scranton, PA that uses a hybrid steel and mass timber structural system, with timber defining the central entrance and amenity space. Quality Buildings served in a Design Assist role as the turnkey mass timber supplier and installer, providing procurement, fabrication drawings, and installation of CLT decks and glulam framing. During preconstruction, QB collaborated with the design team to optimize connections and adapt the timber scope to meet post-design budget and grant sourcing requirements, including a shift from exposed steel bucket hangers to more cost-effective and visually refined timber bearing connections.
